Titanium Alloy Materials

Titanium alloys combine 40% unter density als steel mit corrosion immunity (self-healing TiO₂ passive film) und biocompatibility. Ti-6Al-4V (Güte 5, 880 MPa yield) dominates aerospace und medical implant applications. Commercially pure grades (Güte 1–4) bereitstellen graduated strength für chemical processing und marine service. Key limitations: poor tribological properties requiring surface treatments, difficult machinability (niedrig thermal conductivity), und hoch kosten (10–20× carbon steel). Near-alpha alloys (Ti-6242) extend service zu 540°C für jet motor heiß sections.
