Why not just use Ti-6Al-4V for high-temperature aerospace parts?
Ti-6Al-4V loses strength rapidly above 350°C and has limited creep resistance above 400°C due to its alpha-beta microstructure. Ti-6242's near-alpha structure (with tin, zirconium, and molybdenum stabilizing the alpha phase) maintains strength and creep resistance to 540°C.
