Nitronic 60 (UNS S21800) ist ein hoch-manganese austenitic stainless steel engineered specifically für anti-galling und anti-seizing properties in sliding contact mit itself oder andere stainless steels. Sein galling widerstand ist qualitatively superior zu alle standard austenitic (304, 316) und martensitic (410, 420) grades — kritisch für threaded fasteners, ventil stems, und pumpe shafts wo stainless-ein-stainless contact routinely galls und seizes. Der alloy achieves sein galling widerstand durch ein combination von hoch arbeiten-hardening rate, niedrig stacking fault energy (promoting planar slip rather als cross-slip), und ein self-replenishing oxide film rich in silicon und manganese.
Compared zu Typ 304: Nitronic 60 hat approximately 2× der yield strength bei room temperature (380 MPa vs 205 MPa annealed) und superior wear widerstand. Sein corrosion widerstand in chloride environments falls zwischen 304 und 316 — der hoch manganese content tut nicht degrade pitting widerstand als viel als sein unter chromium (16-18% vs 18-20% für 304) würde suggest. Primär applications: threaded fasteners und bolting, ventil stems und seats, pumpe shafts, wear rings, und chain links wo stainless steel components müssen slide against stainless steel counterfaces ohne galling.
