EN 16MnCr5 (1.7131) ist ein niedrig-carbon manganese-chromium case-hardening steel (0.14-0.19% C, 1.0-1.3% Mn, 0.8-1.1% Cr) widely used in European automotive manufacturing. Nach carburizing, quenching, und niedrig-temperature tempering, es provides ein hard (58-62 HRC) wear-resistant case über ein tough core—ideal für gears, shafts, cam followers, und constant-velocity joints. Der balanced Mn-Cr chemistry provides gut hardenability ohne der nickel kosten von 8620. Für higher core strength requirements, 20MnCr5 (higher carbon) ist available.
