ASTM A36 und EN 10025 S275 sind der meiste commonly specified structural carbon steels in ihre respective markets — A36 dominates North American construction, while S275 ist der European standard-bearer. Beide sind niedrig-carbon mild steels mit excellent weldability und formability, but ihre specifications differ in ways das matter für cross-border procurement.

Key insight: S275's nominally higher yield strength (275 vs 250 MPa) ist partially offset durch verschieden safety factors in Eurocode vs AISC design codes — der real-world allowable stress difference ist typically smaller als der nominal 10% gap suggests.
Schweißeignung und CEV
Beide grades haben carbon equivalents (CEV) unter 0.40, placing ihnen in Zone 1 von der Graville diagram — nein preheat erforderlich für sections unter 25mm. However, A36's broader chemistry bereich (particularly für silicon und copper von recycled content in EAF production) means actual CEV können vary mehr widely als S275's tighter EN-controlled chemistry.
